Have you ever been in a CTF or INF (heck, even TM or HTM or RM) anyway, a team game. You wanted to wait untill everyone respawned so you could swarm the other team. You tell some ppl to head low, middle or top. and some noob will not cooperate! He just runs ahead as soon as he respawns.

Another example, ur team is under atack and you all decide to camp the flag (hey, its actualy a bad idea most of the time). and once again, some ppl don't work for the team. Many times this has happened to my team (and yes, I have been the noob once or twice:) but what are some other team tactics, and how do we promote team work.

Note: I REALIZE THIS DOSN'T HAPPEN AS MUCH IN CLANS

edit: I joined a clan.

then join a clan if u want teamwork ;)

and why would a noob listen to someones orders when he is enjoying soldat as the way HE IS PLAYING IT? and also, its the noobs decision to go where he wants, not urs. xD

i agree! But the question is: Have you ever been in a game where this does NOT happen?
I don't think you can get everyone in public servers to cooperate as a team, but surely some of'em. Just go to some of the more respective servers... leo's FULL ctf fx.

^That's true, in most public servers no one cooperates as a team. But they are fighting each other to be on top of the rankings even though they are playing in a team game.

teamwork on lobby? ahahahaha

You won't find Teamwork in public servers.
The only thing you can do is to spread taunts:
"EFC low"
"Incoming Upx2"
etc.

You can also advice others to do this.
I think this is the furthest it will ever go with teamwork in a public server.

You can go to #soldat.gather on IRC (quakenet) if you want such teamwork or join a clan as said before. But even then you'll rarely decide where the others will go. I'm a clanleader and I always let my members decide what they do both in-game and 'out-game' , if two have the same willings its the job of the leader to give one the rights this time and the other therights next time , that is what a clanleader should do , not more not less (concerning this topic ofcourse).

Eh, I can communicate quite well with teammates. Whether it is getting 2 rugers to work together, or boosting/raiding together. It's really amazing what you can do. Especially when you chase the EFC into a waiting barreter. :)

DePhille
December 19, 2005, 9:04 pm
Yes but I bet you can't get a public team of 6-7 players to do that.

Teamwork on a pub doesn't have to be every single person working together as a team... it can be as simple as using a taunt, or changing your weapon to create more variety. It can even be accomplished without saying a single word--just follow someone on their way to and from the flag.

Or some ppl covering each other. The idea of "you cover me I'll cover you"

Cooperate with the other team, stand infront of your teams campers or spray them with an auto to bink them.

Most Soldat players will refuse to do teamwork, and rather do it on their own.

I find more people are trying to get to the top spot even though it is a team game such as ctf or inf. They think they are better than everybody else so they try to prove it in score, even though it's not based on you winning, it's based on the team winning.

When I play on pubs, I hardly ever see people use taunts or play for the team. It's alright though, I don't expect them to. That's one reason I hardly ever play on public servers. Most of the people who play on public servers only don't have enough experience in soldat and its team work, yet. I'll do my best and try to help my team and inform them just like I do in clan wars. But I don't play as seriously as in clan wars, obviously.

all my taunts are composed of:

enemy incoming, top route
enemy incoming, middle route
enemy incoming, lower route
camper, top route
camper, middle route
camper, lower route
flag stolen, ^
flag stolen, mid
flag stolen, low
/mercy

et cetera

I play in publics solely for doing my own thing. Sometimes friends of mine pop in and we do a little 2-3 people teamwork. It does wonders.

yeh, its annoying, im trying to work as a team sometimes, one example: we were working together, pwned a load of the other team, and i got the flag, then they respawned so instead of my team covering me, they ran off. this has happened to me multiple times, now i mainly work on my own unless a decent team member tells me otherwise, or there are other $aints on my team who will co-operate

No? I don't think that anyone in a decent clan cares about getting highest score.

Yeah, I've met some arrogant people, who just do their own thing and ignore any type of strategy we try to implement. :\

I help other players on my team when I can. Sometimes I even get 'ty' in return :D

Often times I feel guilty if I don't help the base if someone gets past. I also usually try to cover the flag carrier.

Michal should remove personal scores from team games. Noobs complain when an other team member gets the flag and scores ("My cap!!!11 wah wah give it back").

No one cares about personal score in team games. Except nooblets.

Teamwork is the hardest but most powerful thing in the game. Ex. in a inf the white flag is below the black its a tough map. People just run down and get shot down. But when we went together it was alot "ALOT" easier. So teamwork is good you just have to find it. Clans is the best way to find it.

I do the same, use many taunts and thank ppl when they cover the flagger upon request, etc. It's moronic when ppl say 'i win' in a "team" game.

my fav taunt = " <<Enemy Flagger Low>> - Break His Legs!!"

I like team work. It's fun also when the team cooporates together too. I've few times like that, and we played great. Sometimes I think I taunt a little bit too much.

Teamwork is fun as something I do myself, like as some other people said, informing your team of important events, covering flag carriers, etc...
I just hate it when someone tries to be a general in a public server, telling everyone where to go and [CENSORED].

This is what I would love to see in any team matches, and it never happens, some of the times the guys are not even noobs, they just do as they please!

Sometime the people who do the most for their team dont score the highest, in ctf capping is important but facing tough opposition you wont get it done without a good team.

Yeah I like being on a bots team because when you have the flag they will follow you back to your flag. I always do that with other team mates and ill protect them if our flags not there.

I hate when people do that, dont guard the flag carrier unless you spawn and theres an immediate threat go get the flag back so your team mate can score.

yeah i hate when people guard the FFC too, its really annoying, but ill escort the ffc from the enemy base to our base, just incase [CENSORED] hits the fan, but in big games, (16 or more people) i dont mind if one other person guards the FFC cause what happens when the other team rushes a lone soldat with 3-4 guys? your flagger is gonna die, but if you have another person guarding him, it helps and he might survive till more of the team spawns to help.

Teamwork? Feh, get into a clan. In clan wars, you actually get a "planning" period, in which your team discusses tactics. Top route, bottom route, weapon comboes, etc... 2 rugers rock :) Instant kills.

mrrr ok..... oh and to give my opinion about teamwork is that I think its kinda hard to have teamwork in soldat. I mean by personal experience typing takes too much time. And by the time you were able to type "you go up and i go down" Your could be dead. Unless...i dunno get voice chat or something, typing kinda seems a [CENSORED]. Then again i just type for the sake of typing.
