STALINGRAD
Version 1.0
DeLarge's debut map!

Possibly a unique map in the Soldat community. This has nothing to do with the Infiltration map 'inf_Stalingrad'.

Update: added city scenery!

Facts:

Author: DeLarge
Contact Information: E-Mail / MSN: diablo_sv268@hotmail.com
ICQ: 240386230
For: Soldat (tested on 1.3.1)
Utilities used: Soldat Map Maker V1.2 (by Michal Marcinkowski)
Date Released: Friday, 23rd December 2005
Map Style: Capture the Flag

Instructions:

Default installation:

HALT: You need WinZip to automatically extract the neccessary files to the correct folders that will add this modification to Soldat. Get it at http://www.winzip.com or if you cannot be bothered to get it, then skip these steps and continue to the section for non-WinZip users.

Open this WinZip file
Click the "Extract" button
Find your Soldat directory, and don't forget to check 'Use folder names' before extracting.
When 'Use folder names' is checked, finally extract, and you're done.

Non-WinZip Users:

If your computer is without WinZip, Windows XP can still open .ZIP files and you will still be able to add the modification to Soldat - but you are unable to extract it automatically. Unfortunately, you will have to do it manually.

Open this WinZip file
Select 'CTF_Stalingrad', then find your Soldat directory and drag it into the 'Maps' folder.
Drag the following files to the 'Scenery-gfx' folder in your Soldat directory:

_dcactus5.bmp
blood.bmp
boattop.bmp
boxw.bmp
boxw2.bmp
bu_iron.bmp
camonet.bmp
camonet2.bmp
carcass1.bmp
carcass3.bmp
carcass4.bmp
cloud.bmp
cloud2.bmp
glassthingy.bmp
glassthingy2.bmp
montunnels.bmp
nbf.bmp
nbf2.bmp
overcast day .bmp
sandbags3.bmp
snowytree2.bmp
snowytree3.bmp
specialmessage.bmp
splat3.bmp
x.bmp
city.bmp

Now drag 'concrete.bmp' to the 'Textures' folder in your Soldat directory.

I do too :) I think it will look really nice when you put a city scape made out of scenerys to it :0 Right now the midfield looks a bit empty, when you do it though add a bunch of hiding places and collidres to the buildings

IMO, Inf_Stalingrad is the best WWII map ever, but yeah this seems pretty good. Im'a testing it out right now.

Wonderfull water. Layout a tad too plain. Prolly lots of spray to be expected, so one of those 'funked me up' maps.
But the water... won der full. I just can't say enough of that.

I'll give it a 10 for the new idea.

But for execution, it get's a uhh.. well... forget numbers. Let's just say the water and the rest doesn't look "together". if that makes any sense. Like, in the same way you can't put a 3d fully rendered person into a 2d hand drawn stick comic and expect it to look like they "belong", same could be said about this.

But that reflection is kinda cool =P If you got AIM, hit me up. I like you.

Hmm...
I don't know what people see in this map (no offence),
but the gameplay sucks, cause it's just straight, and neither is the scenery placement or shading anything near
advanced...

Keep trying...

Btw i did map with same name ctf_stalingrad like over 2 years ago ^^ but this looks better but i think it lacks on gameplay... imho it looks boring maybe you should add like tunnel/other ways (more buildings on middle to get flags not just run straight like Sgt. Beaver said.

Wouldn't your first map be pathetic?

TeRRoRinFANt
January 3, 2006, 10:47 pm
Wouldn't you like to hear the comments from all them mapping gods? The way things are, They are entitled to wasting your endeavours (for free) and calling it 'constructive critic'. Now, play your part and say: "Yes, meesa gonna do better next timah, dai-san."
So, your first map could be pathetic, but don't have to be. Your first map could also be your first step toward better mapping. But not always is.
Cheerio!
