Cool! Thanks for the head up Michal. :)
It's a tad short but still pleasant to read.
Was the interviewer a Soldat player as well? (I doubt it)
quote:MM said in the interview: It still fascinate me.
Being fascinated by your own creation is a very noble feeling. I think it happens very few times in a human's life. Moments to treasure!
quote:MM said in the interview: Brutality in media has NO effect on your psyche unless you are retarded.
I laughed at this one, and I agree too. xD
Same on your opinion about 2D/3D.

Cool interview, I haven't realize how popular Soldat was till now. Was it really shown on TV? How many multiplayer-freeware/shareware games get to be shown on TV? That's really something! That 2D-3D question, \m/-_-\m/ with ya all the way. Keep up the excellent work.

Totally 1337. I love how you worded your take on real-life violence, BTW ;-)

I think we all can tell that whatever game MM decides to make next, most of the soldat community will follow it.

I definetaly will. Just wondering, what were the past games that Michal Marcinkowski has created?

You are so cool, Mr. Marcinkowski. I find it hard to believe that anything can be better than Soldat, but I look forward to what you come up with in the future.

It seems that MM also likes turn based strategy games with action points involved...Fallout and Jagged Alliance, those two are the classics O.o

If I remember correctly, Michal also made some sort of sumo wrestling game?

Unless I'm thinking of Joosa Riekkinen or however you spell his name.

He made the sumo game, yeah. And a ninja game where you throw shurikens (ninja stars, don't really know the name)

And I think he, if I'm not mistaken, helped with the physics in the game 'N'

Keron Cyst
January 10, 2006, 6:06 pm
Not at all. Soldat was only an inspiration to N, along with Lode Runner and other such games.

Yeah, that's spelled correctly ;-)

Ok my bad. :)
Buyt how can soldat have been an inspiration to soldat Lode Runner? Wasn't Lode runner around way before michal even had the idea of creating soldat?

Keron Cyst
January 11, 2006, 5:46 pm
I presume you mean "N" in that first question :-P

N is a relatively "new" game, being created two years ago. MetaNet Software just looked at 1337 features of all sorts of side-view games. In fact, Raigan, one of the two creators, plays Soldat on occasion (try to find a registered player named "Connection Problem") ;-)

You assume wrong. I meant to type lode runner, obviously.

>>It seems that MM also likes turn based strategy games with action points involved...Fallout and Jagged Alliance, those two are the classics O.o

Yes I like those especially. But I don't know if I could ever make a good game like that. Games like this really need thought, in contrary to games like Soldat where the game maker must trust his gut ;).

>>I think we all can tell that whatever game MM decides to make next, most of the soldat community will follow it.

That will be a challenge for me.
What if I say my next game will be Barbie Doll House. It will be a The Sims clone but with "Barbie" rag-doll physics.

ltns forumers...

michael, I read the interview, and it says u never played on consoles, which reminds me of to must plays for u on the ps2:
God of War - [URL] and the other one is
Shadow Of The Colossus - [URL]

actually... the second one is more recommended. it's something new in 3d platforming, and the game might look simple, but it's very polished, I just love the animation that was done in there, truly miticulous work. I absolutely agreed with your thoughts about the games lately, which are lacking new and innovative gameplay. I'm always looking for something that innovative like soldat for example. That's why I brought the ps2, because I couldn't beleive that they aren't making a freakin' game to the pc which could glue my eyes to the screen as soldat... (been playing it since 2003).

so here's this: just take a look at some videos for Shadow Of The Colossus, and hope that u will try it at least out. Beleive me, the game deserves every bit of attention.

God Of War, is the prince of percia ass kicker :) fantastic story... and a lot of gore for you folks to check out. :) the game play is fenomenal...

hope to see that 'pseudo 3d soldat' in the future (the looks of Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, and the game play of soldat)

cheers.

I'll check out the videos but I don't have a chance to play it :(. The thing I don't like about consoles is that games there are too simple, mainly because of the controls and lack of stuff that you are used to on the PC, like mouse-driven interfaces. But that's just because I never really gave it the time to "learn" playing console.

//the looks of Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, and the game play of soldat

I had the same idea playing that game ;).

Then Barbie's innocence will die a horrible death at the hands of Soldat players everywhere.

I play Solday on occasion. Not a hardcore player, simply because I don't have the time. I wouldn't have interviewed Micheal if I didn't play the game though (I need to be interested in the subject matter).

Nice interview anyhow moshboy. Was a pleasure to read. Your site looks alot of fun too :)

There was another interview a few months back by the community. Questions focus more towards the community itself from Michal's point of view, things about Michal, and a few specific thoughts on different parts of Soldat (interspersed with a several silly moments).

Was all done through voice-chat (and the recordings can be found at www.selfkill.com ), but the transcripts can be discovered at http://www.soldat.nl/news/1124653087/ and http://www.soldat.nl/news/1124733752/ .

If its anything as fun, overall relatively simple, self modable, and as addicting as Soldat ill deff be one of many to convert! As of now though long live Soldat. Im an older gamer to (22) and I must say ive had more fun playing this game then many MANY console games, etc.

chikybabys_16, this is officially your first warning. This is the third old topic that I've seen you post in. You get one more warning, then a ban.
