well ok i suppose i can tell u.
first have you made your name configed ur buttons and ur char? if so goto options fill out all the info in EVERYTHING. with specificaly what u want after that goto start and filll out all THAT INFO then afterwards make sure everythings good to go and then go back to start and push "START GAME"

well, thing can be done many ways and depends upon where your friends are,
if your friends are using computers in your network then in the Options, under Network set the connection to LAN
if your friends are outside your network, set the connection to Internet and Game Password to whatever you want. Tell your friends the password and then you got a server to yourselves.

Once you've done that, goto Start Game, select the maps etc, then press the Start button. There you are. Your friends can now join the game. Enjoy.
