isn't lent a catholic thing? anyway, I don't do lent but I did fast solid food for 2 weeks straight, nothing but mountain dew and water for two weeks... that was hard

and btw 4yr.. technically you are giving up things, that is if you actually follow your churches beliefs, stuff like sex before marrage, drinking, drugs, cursing, and all that jazz. but I must admit, its very hard to give up masterbation and cursing... those are really the only two thorns in my side.

Yeh Lent isn't just a Catholic thing, it's involved in the calendars of a lot of Christian denominations, not sure on exactly which ones, but Mennonites for sure eh.

Because the churches keep people ignorant. It's almost disturbing the ways clergy/priests/whatever answer questions. A lot of people proclaiming to be christian hardly understand or read the bible, and often when they do it's misinterpreted.
It's no wonder that modern "christian" doctrine is so infused with pagan beliefs.

For this reason, I mostly don't care about religion. That and my parents are crazy religious nuts.

Growing up in The Middle of Nowhere, God-Fearing, AL, I certainly know what religion can do to the mind. Brainwashed from an early age and told what to do and how to do it. Not my style.
