And how can you like SOAD? Their new albums are whack, the lyrics are the same thing over and over again.. only thing good about them is a few songs from the first few albums. ( And before you flame me, I was a hard Soad-junkie. I fell hard. )

No frogboy, not really. Metallica copied [CENSORED]loads of earlier thrash bands. There was a post on a site a visit a couple weeks ago where Venom called Metallica crap. I think they both suck, but everybody was bagging on Venom for trying to gain popularity by dissing a progenator of metal. The irony in everything is that Metallica claimed their biggest influence on Kill 'Em All was Venom. Venom is older than Metallica too.
In fact, Metallica got their style from dozens of bands that were doing the same thing even earlier. Out of the "Big 4 of thrash" (Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax), Metallica is probably the most unoriginal. For some reason they are the biggest influence though.
And as for Pantera versus SOAD: that's just a lol comparison. Dimebag had much more talent and spirit. And I hate them both.
