...and I've brought pictures with me. After a week of backpacking through the desert with about 60 lbs on my back, I managed to get a couple hundred pictures of what was an incredible, awesome experience.
After leaving at 5 pm (way too late for my tastes), an all night drive west across the Rocky Mtns. got my friends and I in to Utah at nearly 3 am, and another few hours of driving to look for a camp site made for a long trip. Last Sunday was the first day on the trailhead, which was near a tiny, tiny town called Boulder. Roughly 30 miles round trip, through areas such as the Gulch, along the Escalante River, over the Kings Bench Mesa (I think), and down into Horse Canyon..names which mean nothing to any of you. Anyhoo, it was hell on the legs, someone broke my water pump (in the middle of a desert, how ironic), and nights were spent in below freezing temperatures for the most part. Yet it still ruled. Here are the pics to show you what I mean.
View from my tent on the first day
Ever dig a cat hole? Liberating, especially with a good view
A petrified stump. Petrified wood everywhere
My friend and I, in front of some huge rocks. I'm on the left
Here's a canyon we couldn't pass through...
..because of this! Too wide to jump, to deep to risk falling in
Fireside
More to come...I'm tired of posting and uploading for the moment :p
