Sorry, your signature sucked, was lame, didn''t load right, or broke a forum rule or two. Try again you ninny-sucking twit. Who did that to my sig? It broke no rules whatsoever.

looks like Chakra's loving words to me (though he has been imitated before) ;) (mainly the last part)

I promise it wasn't me

In any case, it was a joke and you shouldn't be all uppity about it

Hey, woah. It wasn't me either. I had Echo_Trail last night pming me with the same problem.

Whichever moderator did it, please stick to standards next time. You should know by now not to mess with a guy's sig.

Yeah ...anticipation of new forums grows ever stronger. Bloody snitz bollocks.

Anyhow, try not to freak out people. It's signatures. With all the stress you lot give my moderators, is it any wonder they flip now and then?

(and yes, i'm aware the 'Phantom Signiture Replacer' has struck me too. But i've had a good cry, so i'm feeling better now)

Thanks n00bface :P

No really, it wasn't me. I haven't touched siggies for like a month or so.

Maybe it's Amblin, rose up from the dead?

Quote:If we come across broken images we will usually remove the entire sig. It's your responsibilty to ensure images are loading properly, not ours.

Your image wouldn't load properly, even after an hour of checking to see if it was still up. I felt the,.. explanation was rather clear. The rest was humor. It confuses me, how you can jest over [CENSORED] porn and each other's moms, yet when your signature is fixed via the forum rules, you spaz and cry about it.

Get a different host.

I dunno where Chakra's sig went to.

GAMEOVER
May 22, 2006, 2:56 pm
I never took part in the kiddy porn conversations in the forums channel, my signature loads properly on all other websites that I have it and it had the exact same link. Ill keep the sig up just for you.

Deleted User
May 22, 2006, 3:01 pm
Then perhaps your host denies hotlinking through the forums for your sig? It's not my issue either way, the image simply wouldn't load. kthxbye

FliesLikeABrick
May 22, 2006, 5:09 pm
Lapis, the explanation you left [in his signature] isn't appropriate for something that was just a broken hotlink.

edit: yeah can't wait for the new forums, they have logs :P

Huh, pretty harsh sense of "humor" to me.

Maybe it was me, but his signature always loaded.

Anyhow, how about you guys burry the hatchet?

FliesLikeABrick
May 22, 2006, 7:12 pm
idk about burrying it, but I'm willing to bury it since I thought it wasn't a big deal from the beginning. Just let it go and hopefully something like this won't happen again

Deleted User
May 22, 2006, 7:28 pm
It was a general explanation for several signatures that were removed.

As all moderators know, the signature tool for these forums is somewhat slow and troublesome, so I simply removed all the offending signatures and left a vague explanation for them all.

Keron Cyst
May 23, 2006, 8:20 pm
You left that vulgar explanation just because an image didn't load? If I saw a dead image in a someone's sig. at the Metanet forum, I'd just kill the link and put in italics something like "Image link removed due to malfunctioning," or something like that.

Of course, but you're part of the staff and are supposed to appear more professional in the job.

...and yet, somehow, i'm Admin of this joint. Godfather and name-giver of "Operation Bum Weasel". Despot of self-humouring immature ban-related actions. The megalomaniac to attack when the forums got cack but jack had the nack to bring it all back, mac.

Hmm. Maybe i'm a bad influence.

Anyhoo, while this topic has highlighted the dangers of general signiture over-protectiveness, it has also crab-walked into "boo, hiss, moderators should be seen and not heard."

What are your thoughts on the matter... should moderators be mechanical drones set to their job (somehow) willingly, or be allowed slight unconvential freedom with their potentially evil powers to extrovert some creativity and humour but within moral reason?

Where does the fine line fall....dammit.

moderators and admins should project a decent level of professionalism, especially if we want the forums to improve in quality. I hate to say it, but Lapis did cross the line of professionalism by doing that in the signature. He should have sent a PM to GO and only left a nice tidy message in his signature

Keron Cyst
May 24, 2006, 3:37 am
FLAB's definition is perfect. Mods can post just like how they are now IMO but when it actually comes to actions in a Control Panel, those ought to be a tad stricter than the current.

No offense, but I'd like to see you send 13 PM's over images that won't load. Rinse, lather, and repeat that about three times a week.

I will admit that the note I left could be taken improperly, and for that I do apologize. However, you should all know that I don't hate any of you (much) and would not abuse my powers to insult you (often).

Come on now. You all trust me, right? I did not have sexual relations with that woman.

I mean, it was all a joke and no offense was meant.

FliesLikeABrick
May 24, 2006, 5:12 pm
lapis, you think I don't send a PM every time I do it? I send PMs whenever I remove someone's signature or avatar (most of the time, though always in cases that may need explanations), I also send PMs whenever I make changes to someone's threads that need explaining that I don't want to do in the thread itself.

I don't preach what I do no do myself. to do so is just stupid.

I dunno guv. S'all well and good having a heart for efficiency, but not everything need be done by the book, my half-vulcan friend. Theres a certain element of the age old fallacy 'ends justify the means' in some operations around here, to get things done in a sane and quick manner...

..for example, i've banned a few peeps without taking them through the whole rules system or 'honouring' them with a sin bin post. Why? no one particularly cares for the individual and they're often just newcomers being highly obvious about looking to troll somewhere.

It's a shortcut through the woods instead of a long desert road... catch me drift?

yeah chakra, I fully agre... I'm just saying that there are even limits to the half-professional approach. Lapis said that he acknowledges that perhaps the message he left wasn't quite proper, I think we all understand whats going on and how things should and should not be done now.
