The bullet itself is .5 inches in diameter, but the entire cartridge is much bigger. The casing is probably like 1 inch in diameter, and the whole thing is around 5 or 6 inches long or something. I don't know the exact dimensions, but it's something like that.

Well I saw a video where some Al-queida guy was about to shoot an RPG, got shot by a machine gun, lives, tries to get back up, as he sits up, get shot again. Dead. Not bloody, but kinda freaky.

I'd imagine a .50BMG would be much more...dispersive than that.
