Im not going to go into a question and ask why soldat cant be in mac.

I already know a good reason why. But does anybody know in particular what kind of coding has to change if it were to be in Mac? And why its impossible?

As far as I know, Delphi has little to no Mac support. I'm a bad source though, as I just looked at the Delphi homepage.

Yeah Delphi isnt cross-platform except to Linux using Kylix, mac does run based on Linux but the kernel is too wacked.
So yeah, Delphi does not have any Mac compilers or even 3rd party compilers for mac.

mac = crap anyway.

Doesn't Mac have an emulator to windows?

Nor does it have DirectX. It would be possible to run it on a Mac if WINE was ported to OSX (it's possible) and it was possible to run Soldat on WINE properly.

EDIT: OS X does have VirtualPC but I'm pretty sure it's slow and not even Microsoft recommends it for games. The Intel Macs can dual boot with Windows, so it's possible to run Soldat on one of those.

Yes, Macs run microsoft office and Intel chips, and by installing a 2nd operating system into mac (if its possible) then it would be OK in my point of view. Using a mac computer and playing soldat off the 2nd operating system.

That would be ok, id still be wondering if you used the actualy Mac OS to play soldat with the emulator.

BTW, wine is used for Linux<- -> Windows right?

yes, but even Linux still cannot play soldat a large portion of the time, wine has regression issues and we do not have a current maintainer for Soldat in wine since Elephant Hunter didn't have the time to do it anymore. If someone wants to fill the position, they should have a very good working knowledge of linux, wine, and coding. I may do it once things settle down with the new server/forums if nobody else does in the meantime

Get a new Mac, run XP using Boot Camp. voila

If it can run HL2 at great rates it can run Soldat.

Flies, its not that big of a deal for soldat to be on a mac. Not many people use it. You don't have to do everything quote unquote. All i really am asking NOW, is, is there an emulator besides boot camp, for mac-windows.

Edit: I dont like boot camp, i tried that on my friends computer and it didnt work that well for me.

HOw would you even play Soldat on a MAC? Don't the mouses only have one button?

Flies, Boot Camp is on Mac (typo?).

Ben, no. Apple brand mouses are one button. But you can go out and buy any USB mouse and plug it in like I do. But I find myself reverting back to the trackpad sometimes.

Also, the way the whole OS is set up you really don't use the right-click as much as you would in Windows.

Its still optional to use a 2 button mouse. Just make sure its USB

You'd be suprised at its power and its non-virus, fast running stable computers. If it could host soldat servers, it would be of good quality.

And then i have one more question. Is there an emulator for Mac-Linux?

God knows, I've never used a MAC (laugh all you want), I used DOS until 2000 and then switched to windows.

Why not just skip all the hard crap and get a cheap laptop, fly to Malaysia, pick up a cheap Windows operating system for $10 (Windows XP Pro :D:D:D:D:D:D) and then just use it specifically for porn and Soldat?

You don't need an emulator. Boot Camp isn't an emulator. It lets you run Windows natively, meaning it's faster than emulation. I'm sure there's a way to get Linux running off of Boot Camp too.

And the only reason that Macs have a very little amount of viruses is because OS X isn't as popular as Windows. There have already been proof-of-concept viruses for OS X.

If Mac would be as popular as Windows, then it would problably have as much of viruses that Windows has now.

>>> Vash and frogboy are trying to say that the new Intel based MAC's CAN run XP from boot as if it were a PC to begin with, but probably faster due to the dual-core intel processors that they have as standard.
