^lol

Just wondering, is there any file types that support animation and an alpha layer, possibly with the gif or png compression algorithm thingy?

ROTFL bja888, *you* have no idea what a PNG is.

JPEG, WMP, JPEG 2000 = lossy compression
PNG, GIF = lossless compression

Both types are for different purposes.

lol...

Just for the record, I'm not saying PNG is a perfect format and that I use it for everything. But it has its purpose. I see no advantage the windows having its own image format. Most photographers use macs right?

^Right.

I use PNG only for images with alpha, and for taking screens of mods. I'm a giffer for low-color pixel work and animated images (of course). I only use jpeg for photography, because other filetypes won't increase the detail at all, seeing as they start out as jpeg.

Since it's server side, YOU know that there's nothing server side?
If the rest of your site is server side (using your own templates for footer, header, site layout etc.) why should he stop doing that for an about page?

Stop trying to find mistakes when there aren't any.

I knew their wasn't much to pick at when I first viewed the page. The point wasn't to find actual problems but to discredit his views on PNGs.

Si! http is a text based format. It works better when the text is text. Especially, search engine relative content such as a heading.

Too many people get riped off by poor web development these days.

They're #1 for a google search "sostre", seems fine to me :)

If you want to discredit his views on PNGs, then do just that.

Here's a little statistic from all the URLs I pick up from IRC
