... wild idea, but ... a STORY MODE or ADVENTURE MODE

its about time that SOLDAT has a STORY behind it, i know it kind of contradicts everything that we stand for, but soldat needs a story!!

you know, like so many other games have a story or adventure behind the characters, and maybe have it unlock special features as the player advances through the game... ---you decide

all comments accepted, i can take it, let me know if its a lame-ass idea

But on a more serious note, there was someone who made a series of story-mode maps, but I'm not completely sure who, and it's probably not as "in-depth" as you are looking for.

EDITED: Aha! I see the light now! This is what I meant by the story maps. Most likely the links don't work, but you could suggest someone try making another set of "story" maps, or even try your hand at making them yourself!

More freedom to mod (so single player mods could be made) would be really neat. I dont think maps and special AI is just what we are looking for really :E

I agree with u. I think that it would be like 1st round you vrs. 1 bot in b2b, second round you vrs. 2 bots in nuubia, or sometin. Then at the end. it shows you your score [the end is when u lose or win the whole thing] and u can print it out and post it on forums.

yea i'd like to see more teamwork based stuff, soldat is all about teamwork, too bad not everyone realizes that. (not even when i charge into the base and throw the flag at my team, they'll just be like "omg n000b, he threw the flag at me!")

I think that there should be like objectives, hold this position for a while, then take this base and escort flagger to base, and on and on

That made me laugh. :^) I think what he's looking for is more complex objective oriented gameplay. The only problem I see for this is that it'd be too difficult to pull off in a multiplayer game that usually averages ten to 12 players per server. Having, say, a separate force field generator that could be destroyed to open up more routes inside an enemy base would further split an already small team of players. Having objectives anymore complex than "grab a flag" would fracture teams to the point where the concept of "multiplayer" in Soldat would no longer exist as the team would have to split to meet those objectives.

what game have you played where cooperative missions have the players separate and do different objectives?

we're talking about some kind of mission mode like other games....and it's probably gonna have players vs bots, but unique bots and special situations.

i say...no!.....this is a waste of michals time..soldat was meant to be a multiplayer..and by god it should stay that way.

i think an app where it opens soldat and loads a story map for you and when you win or lose it sends info to the app. then the app could change the map or send the say command to the server. and then maybe edit the weapons.ini and gfx once a level was beaten. then it could save your stats. then it would be more realistic/like single player than playing shoot everyone and then die 10 times and shoot everyone again, for 10 minutes until you win because bots get boring after a while when you play like that.

yes, mission mode is a great idea. I mean, what could be more fun than grabbing a gun, and jumpin into a mission mode,and trying your hand at a mission?

If this is directed at my post, then I was thinking along the lines of the example I gave. If the teams have a shield generator, then you'd have people leaving to attack/defend the generator and a second group attacking/defending the base, plus who knows what else for any other objectives.

That would be interesting to have a single player team mode going up against a large base full of various bots. Perhaps even with boss characters. I'd love to be able to get a group of people to run through some enemy gauntlet and have to fight some giant boss at the end. Any such mode would have to be survival only to be challenging.

You can kinda simulate this by turning on Survival mode and playing against a team of bots. But, yeah, having a story mode or campaign sequence would totally r0x0r my s0x0rz. That, or being able to have longer map introductions.

I say screw a story mode for everyone becaus you can make your own. It works when you get board, and you have all the tools to make your own maps, bots, whatever you need.

I support this idea...

But, while in story mode, if you die, you must restart from the nearest checkpoint. You start out with a bulletproof vest on... and you get some bots on your team (No, not retarded bots, bots with some actual minds and tactics).

Throughout the story, more "soldiers" become more confident in you and will follow you if you press a certain button... there should also be "At Ease", "Take Cover", "Move Out", and "Protect/Hold Position" buttons. And gun spawns for "Story maps", as in throughout the story, there are weapons on the ground and you have the choice to take them or not.... "Pick up weapon" button???

Well, unless you want to give MM some more grief on making this. While hes still trying to fix all the other bugs that we keep pointing out, then go ahead.

Story Mode would be too.... RPG. Soldat is not RPG!!!
