Ok. I have an idea. A good idea. The idea: Soldat Newsletter, weekly.

You may ask, how would this work? It would work by having YOU submit things to it (Private Message). This idea was incorperated from many other forums and is not my full idea, but I do claim credit. You may also ask how can someone with less then 50 posts do this? I say to that, shut your mouth. Post counts USUALLY means nothing in the world of forum maturity.

The newsletter would only be so big, depending on how many things were sent in. Such as weapon articles, interviewing a forum moderator, interviewing a pro soldat player, clan discussion and clan recruitment.

If this idea appeals to your likeing, I shall start it A.S.A.P, and will have it done maybe by Friday or Thursday (depending on where you live).

Errr, sounds pretty redundant. But whatever tickles your pickle.

We've tried. Nobody cares and you'll find that after you start the project, even you will begin to lose interest.

Well, we'll see about that? If the newsletter was interesting I wouldn't see why people would lose inteterest in it. I make a newsletter for another forum every week and have for the last year, I got the same comments from them as you have given now.

Soldat's a simple game, and there are only so many maps and mods to last for a few issues at best. A newsletter wouldn't have any information not already available on the forums as well. Seems like a poor idea. Most good newsletters are either forums unto themselves or the source for information about some thing.

if this idea follows through, I'll be a journalist (interview forum moderators, or MM) If you really need people, gimme a PM or holla at me on MSN (u'll find it by clickin my name)

Sounds like fun, call me if you want to interveiw me (about my comic that is.)... ^^

Edit: what if people sent in stories about matches they played, like Urban Orange did in the "Steyr Mercenary" tobic in the soldat moments directory...

maybe you could have little copetitions, like "Best Soldat Story" or sumthing...but yea, as I said...Talk to me on MSN or PM me and we'll talk about it, I'll help you out with what ever you need. I'm fairly new with fotoshop, but I can do sum pretty cool things with it. I can also type fairly fast, and with hardly a mistake (I proof read everything I type)

I would like to point out that not everyone is on these forums alot. I think it's convienent to have a 'newsletter' that could be quite interesting.


Some MAIN ideas I have is:

- Interviews (depends on if that want to be)
- Clan recruitment section. This would have all the free people looking for clans.
- Idiot of the month? This wouldn't be a topic to make fun of new people.
- Competitions. Monthly competitions with a prize of a (mini) signature saying you won?
- Stories. This will have things from soldat moments, to actual stories. Only the best will be put in.
- Quality Maps. This will only the best maps. Maps from other sites can go here.
- Mods. This will only be the best mods. Mods from other sites can go here.
- Pictures. Pictures thaqt just have to be seen.

- Any other articles that people might submit.
- Links. This will be near the end on the page and have links of some Soldat sites. This may also have links to soldat movies. This topic may only appear every so often, depending on if some new sites come out that is worth the look.
- Credits, also near the end. All the people who contributed to any article.

Sounds pretty cool to me. Feel free to do it, ill read it.

If someone is not wasting time reading the forums, then what makes you think they'd want to waste time reading about the forums, which is what you'll be pretty much doing. By all means, though, go ahead and create the thing instead of just asking if your possible ideas for a possible newsletter will be worth reading about. If it's a success, great. Just read http://www.soldat.nl/ or http://www.selfkill.com They both practically cover every tournament, have interviews with people, mention developments in soldat etc.

An educated guess would lead me to believe that most clan recruitment happens on IRC, in game and on tournament forums such as TNL and SCTFL, however a list of recruting clans could work.

Weapon articles in a newsletter? Sounds a bit naff to me. What happens once you covered everything?

Also pro soldat players? I don't know anyone who gets paid to play, except Michal (and his brother?)

A better idea may be something like a soldat blog which you write say one article daily.

A newsletter sounds like a good idea.

There are enough things going on each month, you should be able to write a Newsletter each mother easily. Currently this month a Weapons War started. [URL] There are also more then just 1 Forums related to Soldat on the internet. So even if you run out of articles from the Soldat Forums, there are other Forums Related to Soldat that could have some interesting information to add to your Newsletter.

I'd actually love to be able to read up on a bunch of new information that I could have missed over the past month. Some of us don't have time to be able to read through all of the Posts, and Threads. So if someone made a Newletter pertraying to what all new things have happened over the last month in Soldat, it would make it easier for some of us.

And also, since you say you have experience in writing Newsletters on other forums, this only gives my support more. Get some people together and this could become very successful.

This would be sort of a good idea. It would be better to have some kind of crew to help you out though.


As for Mr. Dominio, the magazine is BASED off of these forums. I dont know iuf you're trying to humiliate Bounty Hunter or just make a point, but that's sort of the idea of the magazine

I'm not trying to humilate him or anything. I just think it's a redundant idea, and the Internet is littered with "idea" people who don't really have a clue or plan as to how to successfully get a project up and running. As mentioned, this has been tried and failed before. While that doesn't necessarily apply to this venture, it certainly makes for a poor precedent. If he could think of something unique, then that'd help. As it is, I just see the ideas listed as a forum rehash with no real merit of their own.

I don't think this idea is so bad. I would be interested to see what is churned out
