Well, it may not be cheating but it's definetly the lamest MOD (if u can call it that) i have ever seen..

People wont ban him because they cant tell weather he does or does not have a laser mod, it does modify the game to your advantage, but not directly......

yeh I agree with Ardaen, things like that laser thingy would be classified cheating in counterstrike.

I was messing around with that, changing my cursor to my advantage with the M79, trying to sculpt the arc of the cursor to fit the arc of an average M79 shot....It doesn't work. ;)

I don't consider that cheating, because I don't see how it helps you at all....it IS just seen after the shot, correct? Then how does it help you?

Well it helps you because you can see where you shoot BEFORE you shoot, and you have less chances of missing if you use it......

It only works well with the barret, and you have to be prone for it to be effective.

Its obvious that its cheating, and I will ban everyone that uses it.

I think it is cheating, but I don't think there is any way of banning people that use it. For now at least.

Well, you see people, there are two main types of questions/answers.
Opinions and Facts.
Lets use Coco Pops as an example.
The question "are Coco Pops just like a chocolate milkshake only crunchy?" is an opinion type of question. The individual may or may not believe that Coco Pops are indeed just like a chocolate milkshake only crunchy.
However, the question "do Coco Pops actually go pop?" is a fact type of question.

So, opinions aside, it IS cheating.

this is a nightmare... specially with barret... the other guns at least give u a chance (e.g. curved angle, or no 1shot kill)

in my opinion barret should be somehow disabled and make the ruger shot farrer (the plus 10%) in that way they cannot abuse barret with this thingy

or... leave the barret as it is, but u could fire with it only in fixed position.

Limiting one weapon because someone is abusing it isnt the solution, if one finger was injured, would you cut your hand or heal the finger?

The only solution here is to either ban that if its detected or players to understand that this is cheap and shouldnt be used....

Michal could also put some limitation to where you could stretch the gun bmp file, by that I mean that the light green box shouldnt be changed in its size, allowing fair modding, but disabling laser sights...

well...this laser wont help you much, not only it makes it harder to play, since it is blocking your sight and the screen. i wouldn't use it, except is for barret and have exact percise arh. if you could makek one like that, i would use it then.

Ok, I tried this, and sculpted it well (for barrett).

I think it's cheating, b/c not only can you tell exactly where your shot will go, but you know if someone is aiming straight at you! I used it to my advantage to destroy Dangerous Dave! :)

Don't worry, I am back to normal shots now...now you don't have to worry about getting hit by me!

So how would you know if someone is using it to ban them? They wont come out and say it, and you wont be able to tell someone using from someone who is just really good.

Maybe we should have the game lock down all gfx files for weapons so you have to have the originals (the server would check the size of the file or something).

i think limiting the resolution of the canvas size would be good, like it has to be # x # pixels in order for soldat to run...obisouvsly, the # have to be reasonable, so modder could modify them to there likings

Also, the laser only works when facing right in the game. Because of the way the weapon mirroring system you cant have it slope down when facing left or the gun would be above your head.

So it seems most people dont think its cheating but you do think it is unfair. Is that right?

I have to tell you all this....To all of you who know me and have played me recently, I have been using a laser sight thing like this. You may not think it helps, but it *can* help in ways other than shooting. It helps when someone is camping. You will see their laser in the middle of the air. You can tell if someone's shot will be off. You can also use it somewhat to shoot people easily. I have found it to be cheating, but that's just me....try it, and you'll see that it's cheating.

I very much agree with that, though I have yet to try it out. I don't even think I will. Things like that would take away the fun/challenge for me. I could care less if I get 10 more kills per game, I'd feel like I really didn't earn the kills. Seems like a cheat to me though.

i dont think is cheating, since there is a "lazer mod" released by someone M or Corlan not sure, WAY back when we are in 1.05b, no one nor michal complained about it that it is cheating...so i guess is not

Yeah, but in real life everyone can use the lasers. In the game, it would be one or two people in a room having the advantage to the laser, and everyone else not using it. In my opinion, an advantage over other players (not including skill ;)), is cheating. I can definitely see where you're coming from when you say it's not cheating, but I just think it is.

How about a 3 state server side setting. Something like 1. Allow all graphics, 2. Limit image proportions and 3. Use default graphics.

Yeah, but (ninga), this is not real life. We don't have real guns in Soldat....so you think it's ok if someone pops you 10 times straight because they have this laser cheat? I don't think its fair, but hey w/e.....

I think this "MOD" is really good for campers.. since when u move/fly and shoot with barret the bullet doesn't go to the place ur pointing at. but this would be a disvantage for them too cuz u can see where are they hiding.. anyways, this "MOD" is lame..

hey i think its funny if they have a laser sight and you still own them easily, but i think it is cheating because as other people have said it gives you an unfair advantage over other people

this would be an advantage over any player that doesnt have it... but... unless it is said to be an UNFAIR advantage then I do not feel its cheating... if I were to make the decision on whether it were unfiar or not, I would say it is unfair, even if it is pretty lame...

The thing is, you cannot ban it....the only thing that could happen is Michal could read this and develop some sort of file that stores all the Soldat image files so that you can't edit the guns and stuff....but, in doing that, he would be destroying any chances at mods...seems to be a lose-lose situation, so you cannot ban it.

I downloaded it... was about to proceed to put it in the folder, then realized that I don't need to really try it out after looking at the screens. It just boils down to it gives people an unfair advantage, and for me would take fun away from it. The only dignity left in camping (I will admit to doing it sometimes), is being able to pick people off on the first shot with precision. This kind of takes away from that...

How could you download it? The bulletdrop laser isnt up for download.

Well i got one called Lazer Mod and its sh!t coz it looks like disco lights all over all these bots have there guns pointign up and even the bullets are big red lines..... its really retarded.

Yo, this isn't cheating, i have laser on my barret (I made wit paint) and, it makes absolutly NO DIFFERENCE, if you follow the laser u would miss because the laser is attached to the gun, and the bullet isn't strait! All it does is shows were ppl r hiding, heh.....

Yeah, I agree that if you can see someone that's hiding, that's cheating. But then again, some mods, like the WW2 mod, make the barret much larger, so I've noticed that I was able to see people that were hiding simply because the gun was sticking out. I got rid of that mod, but if it makes you able to see someone that's hiding, it definitely gives you an advantage, and therefore is cheating... in my opinion at least

You just wouldn't be able to make huge guns. I'm not sure how big (or small?) the limitation should be. Too small and modders can't make guns the way they wan't, and too big and people can still cheat by having a little laser (so they can see campers).

It makes it so you have an advantage, as was said. Makes gameplay work in a way in which it was not meant to. It's just as bad as aim bots and stuff... I mean where do you draw the line exactly?

Different guns have different firepowers. In that screen shot it shows him with an ak-74. So that means it ONLY works for an ak-74.Unless he changes the laser thingy to fit a barret.

And what is going to stop him from ding that?
