I'm networking my pcs tommorow so I can own my friends at soldat. But heres my question. The older pc that im networking may not run slodat [:-weepn]. The requirments are as I know are a 330 mhz cpu but the weaker of the two is this:
300 mhz PII
geforce 2mx200 32 meg
soundblaster live 5.1
128 megs of pc100 ram
windows 98
My better pc is many times faster but I'm worried that soldat may not run on the slower one which is the reason that I'm networking.. Can anyone alleviate my concerns?

I would imagine it would run ok if you are playing 1v1, but as the people increase, the game will slow down. The only way is to test it.

Yea its only gonna be 1vs1 with the faster 1 host maybe we might be on a team against bots sometimes. Thanks for the help. Can anyone here say what the slowest pc they have run soldat ok on?

My friend ran it on a 233 Mhz PII processor for a while...everything else was about the same as your setup, and it ran fine for a while. It does lag a little more, and it is hard for it to run that, but it will work...

well its not really the ram that matters is the power of the processer i mean u shouldnt have a problem runnig it so it should run fine with very lil lag but yeah

Yea I know the cpu is more important but I did a test and it only had 34 megs of ram free before that would hurt performance because but now its has 147.3 megs free.

You might also like to try using soldat 1.0.5b rather than 1.1. Lags less. Might help a lil.

In germany there is a saying:
"The dumbest farmer harvests the biggest potatoes." (dunno if it's translated correctly, but I think you get the point..)
I have a PIII 450mhz, 384MB ram and GeForce 2 Ti. Yes, I know, it's not the fastest, BUT I'm more productive than a AOL noob that got his computer for a present from grandpa.
I saved my money and bought this from MY OWN money and I'm still satisfied with this one.
So stop bragging with your computers, just show what you can do with it.
There's no skill in just owning a computer..
Btw, Soldat just runs very fine with all details on.

Hmmz got an AMD Athlon 1000mhz, with a geforce I *sight* but most gamez are fine cause i got like 1024MB RAM.....can use it in win2000, but in win98 I have to remove [:-censored]ing 512MB RAM, cause Win98 doesn't support more than 512MB RAM............to be continued............
