Good morning guys,
I?ve a little problem with getting soldat started on two of my personal computers. At first I think it helps a lot when I write down my system configurations?

The first one:
OS: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195)
DX: DirectX 7.0 (4.07.00.0700)
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood, 1816 MHz
RAM: 128 MB RD-800 RAM
Video: Creative Labs 3D Blaster GeForce 2 MX-400 PCI Bus

The second one:
OS: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195), Service Pack 3
DX: DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0901)
CPU: Intel Pentium MMX, 233 MHz
RAM: 64 MB EDO-66 RAM
Video: ATI Technologies Inc. 3D RAGE II+ (GT-B2U3), 2 MB RAM
and an additional 3Dfx Interactive Voodoo Card, 4 MB RAM

The third one:
OS: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195)
DX: DirectX 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902)
CPU: Intel Pentium 3, 500 MHz
RAM: 64 MB SD-133 RAM
Video: Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64, 32 MB

On the first one Soldat runs greatfully. I can turn on and off all options which I want and it works. There is really no problem! But the second and third one makes me getting hopeless.

I tried with lower than less settings, 640x480, software rendering, blank screen while bonus fix (because my P233 MMX has an old ATI Card), and so on?

At the first one, I can run the Soldat menu and start a game. But when the game is started I?ve a completely blue screen. So I started a local area network game with my fine working Pentium 4 and joined with my Pentium MMX. The same problem again - a blue screen! I tested to play on the P233 and looked at the monitor of my P4 if there is a reaction. And there is one. I can run with my little soldier over the whole screen and shooting, jumping, flying works also fine but I can?t see this at the monitor of the Pentium One because there I have only a blue window. So I made an ingame screenshot and closed soldat. As I opened the screenshot I began wondering. The screenshot was only a black field with the size of my display resolution.

So let?s come to the third one, my Pentium 3. I had installed DirectX 7.0 at first, then DirectX 8.1b and at last I had installed DirectX 9.0b. But everytime the same error. At first a get a little error window with the following message:

?Error initializing 3D Hardware. Your Hardware does not support DirectX 8. Be sure to install the latest video drivers. Now software will be used??

I clicked the ?OK? Button and after that I get a new message:
?Could not initialize DirectX Graphics. You must have installed DirectX 8 or better. Trying turning off extra options like Antialising?

When I click the ?OK? Button ones more my Soldat window closes automatically.

I have really no idea what I could do so that Soldat is running on all machines. Maybe one of you have one?

Are you sure you really have those confs? You say that it runs in your first computer with dx7, but when you try to install it(or play it, dunt remember) soldat asks you for directx.
The second config is too slow(under minimum requirements) and... with 2 graphic cards, only one card will work... I think, look in the BIOS to choose to run it with the Voodoo, but I would they those cards do not support directx 8.1.Anyways if you are ever able to run Soldat it will be unplayable.
The third config... I would say that in that one you have the dx7 and in the first one the dx 90b. But if you say so, try updating the drivers.

I have exactly the same problem. Whatever I do it doesnt work. I can start the game and I can probably move and jump, but I canĀ“t see. The screen is just black.

ok, well...

Soldat requires DirectX 8.1 or higher. I recommend using DirectX 9.0b
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=141D5F9E-07C1-462A-BAEF-5EAB5C851CF5&displaylang=en

So technically it shouldn't run on your first comp. Just put DirectX 9.0b on it.

The first and third comp should be running the latest nVidia Detonator drivers
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Also, I would expect that many players are running Soldat on a Pentium 3, without problems, so that shouldn't need any specialised settings.

The second comp is almost a lost cause ;)
I'm assuming that you're trying to use the voodoo card for hardware acceleration...
You'll need a driver that works, which isn't easy to find...
You can try to find something here
http://www.voodoofiles.com/type.asp?cat_id=1
But I suspect that the card will only ever work with Glide, which Soldat does not support.

Also note: Windows NT and 2000 pretty much suck for games :P
