having observed the use of chainsaws since 1.1.5, or lack thereof
i come to propose a change that may restore chainsaws to their
previous a-la-1.1.4 glory.

from the previous information, you should have extrapolated that in
fact, i am suggesting a CHAINSAW powerup.

upon the aquring of this powerup, a twenty-something-or-so second
timer would be activated. during this time, your weapon would be
changed to a chainsaw. a version 1.1.4 chainsaw. we're talking
20 horsepower walking death here-this powerup is very similar
to the flame god... except its not as gay.

(if this were to be implemented, i would advocate the removal
of the chainsaw of a secondary weapon, and make it exculsively
a powerup)

RANT:
and what the hell is with flame god? sure, it gives you a lam-o
flame gun that cannot be classified as a flame thrower, because
it doesn't really throw flame, it just kinda... burns. often
times you end up killing yourself, which is kinda gay, cuz ya know,
its a flame GOD powerup... why, oh why...

On the rant section: Only in CTF can you die while using Flame God. Im not too sure about inf, but in DM on so on you ARE a god. At least so i think ;).

The Rest:

okay...Well, no....Its not that bad, and i would like to have a super powerful chainsaw instead of the flame god (massive, long, extremly powerful). But, still...i think that we are okay as we are. The combination as it is now....works. Maybe this would work better? So i take back my no and replace it with a maybe.

i don't quite understand how chainsaws "work" right now. nobody worth
anything in a serious game acutally uses a chainsaw and intends to
really kill people... i mean, i screw around with chainsaws sometimes,
but i don't really use it seriously:
1) the chainsaw doesn't kill quickly enough for the time you spend
in your opponent's face
2) a knife is easily more effective than a chainsaw at all ranges, or
any secondary weapon IMO (except sometime LAW on large maps as a
utility weapon)
3) the chainsaw is... buggy? i'm not totally sure how chainsaw mechanics
work; is a fast firing short ranged projectile weapon? or an acutal
contact weapon with a different system all worked out for it?
[synopsis: during chainsaw duels, weird things happen]

so... wat is the chainsaw really used for? i'd say not much more than
humiliation weapon, much like knifing a person in CouterStrike.


BTW, i rarely play non-CTF maps, and those i do rarely have powerups;
plus i strive to NOT get flame god due to my horrible experiences
with them in CTF. my ignorance is evident, i stand corrected.

yeah the chainsaw is prolly only good for humilating a guy :) but i've been using it for like 2 weeks now and it isn't all that bad. It takes about 2-3 slashes with the saw to kill some1 wit it so your not supposed to joust with it, your suppose to run the same way the other guy is running and just hit them right. The chainsaw works pretty well in ctf_kramf when your on the blue team and defending the flag.

well, call me old school, but i just don't simply see the need for the chainsaw, or the law, or the knife for that matter. i mean, really, what's the point in having the possibility of carrying 2 instant kill weapons?

couldn't make the kill with the barret or m79? take a second stab at it and whip out a chainsaw/law/knife.

to me, it just feels like it's taken a lot of the skill part out of the game.

don't go dissin the knife... many people use it as a primary, and the
primary gun as a utility (eg. suppresive fire) or when the knife is
gone... like me ^_^

however, all players have the same weapons, so skill isn't decreased
by equal opportunity. thats like saying the advent of automatic
weapons have decreased the skillfullness of soldiers.

I luv teh chainZaw! But I would like this 1337 power up that gave you a chain shoting chainsaw, so you would like spinn the saw a little and the chain would fly off, and yes 1 shot kill =D I luuuv chainZaw!

teh chainsaw needs to be chuckable :) but it should take out 50-75% off your health.

they chainsaw is fine as it is now cause its not a one hit kil but its not very weak its jsut average i think michal did a good job with teh chainsaw

i just think that we could make flame god a bit better, make it like 1.1.4 chainsaw's power but slighty shorter range than it is now

and doffencom and aqua, wtf? why the hell would you 1) throw a chainsaw, just get a knife, and 2) WTF? PERIOD.

barely anybody will let you get that close and stay that close to you for you to even touch them, much less long
enough for laggy servers to recognize that you are in fact hurting your enemy.

Im sure t0he reason the chain saw was nerferd was because of the freaking spawn killers at CTF maps. Ive seen like 2 - 3 people with a chainsaw just waiting for you to respawn.

The flame trower would make a pretty nice primary weapon if it was given limited ammo and a medium reload time since it isnt too weak or too powerful.

i know why the chainsaw was nerfed. i'm sure everybody else knows too. but now its a obsolete
weapon. and we're not trying to discuss the flame god powerup here...
