Someone teach me how to use it. At least how to join a channel. Do you have to register an account? I am using the IRC in Mozilla browser.

Get mIRC from www.mirc.com read the introduction to (m)IRC, put in a nick etc. and choose "QuakeNet" as network and join #soldat.forums
It's really easy if you're not too dumb.

Those integrated chats don't show you anything and prevent you doing certain things..

fyi, IRC is the protocol/system and mIRC is just a client. You connect to a network (multiple servers linked together = network, like IRCnet, QuakeNet etc.) and then you can join channels (rooms) with admins and regular users.
