No it doesn't make sense and yes you can. Perhaps you need to change the lobbyserver txt. Go to the soldat website. NOW!
And this should really be in the need help/bugs forum anyway.

Yes it is possible. I was online around 2 minutes ago with unregistered.

...im registerd but you can play online change ur lobbyserver.txy number to lobby.safeland.org
