I wouldn't have a problem with people just being able to read...but posting should be left up to the people who actually have access to the forum...because God knows that we don't need anymore forums for people to post "I hate barrets!!"

P.S. - I do hate barrets ;)

I wanna see the thread where Michal succumbed to the anti-Barret-nerfing people to keep the Barret as the most hated assault rifle in Soldat today.

It would be nice to see the many conflicts between the barretards and the people who are right.

People wouldn't be able to post. At the moment, even beta testers can't post, the forum is locked.

well agreed that beta testers could only write post and other users only read it but... for example michal puts new beta version and link that beta testers can download it but now all users can see that and they will download it :/

beta version is for beta testers not to all...

Yeah, but whats the point in downloading old, buggy versions?

Hercule Poirot: No you are confused. I mean, the beta testing forums would be private in the development of a new soldat version. However, when the version is RELEASED, the forums would be open (and locked) for everyone to read what was discussed. This means people have a better idea of what to discuss in game improvements.

I reiterate, people would NOT be able to access the forums while a beta was in development.

Stalky, Michal said he won't change the weapon balance, because it's perfect right now in his opinion. So he releases the weapon mod thing.. no more balance/barret discussions.

and the bug topics aren't meant for the public, because some people could use it for their own good (although it's fixed.) many bugs show how the game works.
so, what's left for the public?

Yeah! That way we will know the game better, and how its made, and part of its flaws. I think the beta testing forum should be carefully screened so no exploit can be figured out from it.
Maybe then ppl will see all the bugs they didn't even know that could exist and that has been fixed and will understand the weary task achieving balance represents.

I still think all discussions on new features and the upsides/downsides would be good for the public to read. I mean, at least people will know what ideas were presented, and so they know what not to suggest.

Also, the beta testing forums could be some sort of manual I suppose. Remember how many people didn't know how to view demos come the release of 1.2? It was all presented to the beta testers in the forum.

No harm could come from it, as long as sensitive topics are screened or deleted.

...by the way b00sta, what weapon mod thing?!

I think.. the beta testers just read the manual ;)
Hmm.. every new version someone would have to delete the bug topics. What if Michal wanted to check a certain topic again? Instead of deleting the many bug topics, I would just move the discussions to another forum.

Michal - My proposal. (page 7)
quote:only thing I do not want to do anymore is balancing the weapons. That is why I decided to release a weapons editor with the next version of Soldat. There will be original weapon settings and they will stay as in Soldat 1.2. But if you will feel that something needs to be changed or you want to experiment there will be a possibility to make your own weapons mod. So the whole community can make their own weapons settings and maybe they will be better than mine. This will be good for Soldat, weapons editing made Liero live for a long time and I hope it will do the same for Soldat.
