Update: We are also looking for new bars to be used, 12 in total, 5 for varing degrees of negitive karma, 5 for varing degrees of positive karma, 1 for zero karma and one for 'not registered'. Small, thin bars (like the current ones) are prefered.

Very nice. But i'm a little confused...is it just how full/empty the bar is, the more approval/hate that person has? or do the blue and red parts represent something?

No. Its just more stuff in the bar = better. :P And why not make it so that it appears on all posts? Not everyone here makes topics so often.

it resemble the percentage, ranging from -100% to +100%
100 / amount_of_people_that_rated_user * final_rating
-20% - +20% results in a centered bar.
+60% - 100% results in a full bar like styx'

styx can u make it so when u place ur cursor on it u get a box with the alternate text in?

Serial Killer, I used the "alt" tags, but they don't seem to work in Opera (but IE).
Should I use "title" or "acronym" (never seen that before)?

Strange cause the other buttons like "profile" and stuff work in firefox.

Why dont use them both? title and alt.
I think the alt i used when the image cant be laoded.

hmm...shouldn't you put a < br > between the image and the Rank Name.

EDIT: seems like maybe is the wrap text problem. Rank names who had more than one word like Forum Admin, Forum Beta Tester have that kinda problem/bug.

"title" is for the tooltips (information, which popups when mouse is over the element)

Why IE use "alt" for tooltips? I have no idea, it IS NOT SUPPOSED to work this way. For tooltips you should use only the "title" tag, not the "alt" tag. It works in all major browsers.

Thanks. I've never really read any HTML specifications. I learned from Frontpage (kill me [:I]).
For now I put the "" tags in there, they work in IE, Opera and Firefox and it's the same method the rest of the forums use.

That's really a great idea, but i don't like so much the bar's graphic. I think we have so much creative members that can make a better bar :D

SERIAL KILLeR, hmm...I'm liking the third set. Negitive karma should be seen to be bad so the bright red suits IMHO.

Yeah, that third set is nice, but I'd prefer it if they were in the style of Meandor's bars.

i agree with stalky that Meandor's is is nice, but i think that the good karma should be green not yellow like Serial killers's.

bb_vb's is the best so far in my opinion.
But I think that the green circle in the middle of the bars shall be brighter if having positive karma, and darker if having negative karma

Easily changed, but it may then lose the definition between someone having a rating and someone not being registered at all, like the grey one at the bottom... Perhaps a change to a different colour as the rating changes? Suggestions very welcome.

This is BAD method so please change it. Acronym is for something else, not for image descriptions.
