features such as:

-features of edit pro

this is a complete recode, not adaption of meitzi's source... so hopefully we won't have any memory issues ;)

and in case you couldn't tell, this is a collaborative project :)

Awesome. I'm very interested to hear how this turns out, especially since its a recode.

Let me know what the progress is on this, you two(?).

Any map making developlemts you guys put forth would be greatly appreciated. I'm very interested after taking a look at that older topic. Had my interest back then as well.

Lol me and Chris decided to hide our feature list due to somone trying to steal our ideas >_>

Perhaps it would be best for us all if you shared your ideas. I know you want to be known as making the best mapmaker, but a little competition would benefit us all in the long run.

Tell me the list...tell me the list...nah kidding.

Nice it is like a new soldat will come out!

Yeaaaah Chris and Encense! Keep going!

EnEsCe - are you referring to me as the stealer of ideas? If so, try and explain how you suddenly put in a rotate feature shortly after previewing my mapmaker which already implements such a feature (I bet you didn't tell chris about that). I don't really mind myself, because such ideas are somewhat simple and obvious and it would be greedy to say others can't implement them. Also, its one thing to 'steal' someone's idea and another to do the hard work and code it properly. That said, I'm not using any of your ideas that I didn't have already ;) and I've got plenty of ideas of my own.

And if you weren't referring to me - ignore my denial. :|

BTW, how is hiding your 'ideas list' going to work? Presumably you plan to release the mapmaker and let everyone use it and thus see all the 'top secret' features. Maybe you two are just overly paranoid...

No im not saying its you, and the rotate feature was actually on our list prior; and I never saw the rotate feature on ur java thingie... (And yes I do know its there now) Either way, whats done is done. gee dont be such a baby over it...

It is not possible to steal ideas unless they are copyrighted, patented, and you're Microsoft.

Either way, I think everyone who designs a map-maker should do their best to implement as many features as possible once they have a stable, working editor. Obviously the best way to find such features would be another map-editor, no?

Anyway, I hope this one really pans out. None of the others have worked for me and I'm real interested in a "brand-new", fresh off the press map-maker.

It's more of not releasing what our editor will have -until- it's out, so maybe our editor will have something new to attract people to. Then other editors can copy us =P We are doing a recode, not building on an existing base, so it takes longer, and if we come up with a new feature and tell everyone we will have it, then other map editors can impliment it before us. Effectively making our efforts worthless.

And Lapis_Lazuli, you're the one who uses the modified shell from win95 or 98, which causes issues with file opening, right? I'll see if I can hardcode in a custom file opening form just for you(instead of using the common dialog control), using the old windows style. If I do, I'll probly make you start the program with the commandline parameter "-IPayAPriceFoRSpeed", just to mock you. :P

A new map maker? If it likes excessive scenery use, I like :)

wow, so how will that prgram, the 'geometry' fit into the actual map maker as such? but yea, keep up the good work guys, and any expected finish date?

Target date is "When it is done" :)

Scenery will be limited by soldat itself.

The geometry program is just a sample implementation of an algorithm that will be used to make your life easier.

I don't care if the commandline is 255 characters long, I'd still use it.

And yes. I do pay a price for speed. 10 second boot times, shut-down time of less than 2. Yet I can't use 40%+ of the apps out there today. =
However, I'm also immune to most of the vulnerabilties out there too, so.. you take the good with the bad, I guess.

Let me know how this turns out.

EnEsCe - If I jumped to conclusions its because you alluded to me stealing your ideas on MSN. Also, don't call me a baby for saying I don't mind you using a rotate feature I had already. The real baby is the one that chucks a tantrum over phantom code-stealers.

Chris - Don't worry about me releasing a mapmaker before you can. I don't have anyone helping me code and I'm doing a 'recode' in a language that doesnt have 'drawable controls' and reads binary data in almost the complete opposite way to how it's written in Delphi. So don't expect me to finish anything any time soon.
