Just a minor thing, but whenever the time changes from summer- to wintertime or the other way round, this means reinstalling for many (if not all) players, cause after such a timechange Soldat comes up with "You cannot use modified animations blah..." and this cant be fixed by just overwriting the animation files by those of a copied soldat folder.

Very low on the priority list since it'll be a few months before it'll happen again.

But when do you think is the next version going to be released? ;)

Michal, what about having two "acceptable" versions of the sceneries? One for winter and one for summer?

I never understood why this happens.. I know what causes it, but why?

I don't know really. I think I'm going to remove the animations check. The cheats based on them aren't so bad, you can always kick the guy.

Well, there is the flying hack, which is almost as bad as speedhacking IMO.

I think this bug happens because when the time is set back or forth, the 'last time modified' info changes by an hour and this difference makes soldat not accept the files. Just a guess though, I don't know exactly how the check happens.

but not a lot of people still have that hack, it has been dead and hasn't been brought up for quite awhile now.

Well yeah, because you can't use it anymore.

Its like Polio, except it'd become a huge problem if we left it unchecked.

How about instead of doing a date-and-time security method, you just check size? Any practical change to the animations would cause an increase or decrease in size, I believe, and if that fails, perhaps generating a security sum for the important animation(s) based on the animation itself, examined at the time of Soldat's start.

However, if you decide to take out animations check, don't mention it in the change log. That'd leave the chance of people not noticing it, therefor not making any hacks for it ;)

well, if new hackers come up, they wont look it up in the changelog and just try it. So id prefer the checksum or sizecheck ;o

Yep, it's easy AND effective.
CRC or MD5 would be just fine I guess.
